Harvey and his tapping crew started tapping on Wednesday, 2/19/14, and continued on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Harvey has only 100 taps left to set out.
The sap ran yesterday for the first time, 43 degrees, very cold wind.
Harvey has 1,000 gallons of sap this morning. The sugar content is 1%, but not worth boiling. Not enough to sweeten the pans and after today the weather looks like it is going to be very cold for this upcoming week, so Harvey would have to drain the pans to keep from freezing.
